Welcome to Summit Valley Farm! Nestled in the northwest woods of RI we are a small hobby farm that includes goats, chickens, pony, pig, dog, bunny and us; Dan, Tracy and Camille. We try to live as naturally and simply as we can by reusing things many times over in Dan’s many building projects, growing our own fruits and veggies and buying local meat when we can and drying and canning various things. Please check out the blog tab for more on the farm life!
I am, what I like to call, a natural wellness practitioner/educator. I have completed two herbalism courses, one being a three year intensive Master Herbalism course that included anatomy, physiology, herbal practices and formulations. I have completed a Level I Aromatherapy course studying under Jade Schutes, my 500 hour yoga teacher certification with classes in guided meditation and a reflexology certification as well. Just recently I was able to obtain a certificate as a Nutrition Therapist which I find helps with everything I do and have also completed my Reiki 1 certification with Reiki Level 2 to follow! Flower essences and Ayurvedic medicine/diet will most likely follow. I am a current member of the NEHA, United Plant Savers, and the American Herbalist Guild.
I am a true believer in the body’s ability to heal itself, in most cases, if we would just let it do its job with a little help from Mother Nature along the way! My family has been using products such as my own and to get us through ailments and illnesses for many, many years with no help from antibiotics, fever reducers, pain relievers or other over the counter drugs. We manage our way through cold and flu season, upset tummies and headaches with herbal remedies. Whatever herbs I do not grow on (or wildcraft from) my own property, I carefully chose to purchase from the fabulous Mountain Rose Herbs company, a leader in clean business practices and quality, organic products.
My essential oils used in my products and consultations are purchased from trusted companies Floracopeia, Mountain Rose Herbs, Aura Cacia and NOW. Essential oils are highly concentrated and need to be used with extreme caution. Do not fall for those companies that will throw around the term "therapeutic grade" and "safe to ingest". ALWAYS consult a trained aromatherapist or doctor, not just a marketing essential oil company.
All of this training, along with my own years of experience, provides me with a wealth of knowledge that I am putting to good use in my products and services; these service include consultations, treatment options and information, and education about working herbs, yoga, meditation, journaling and essential oils into your life. Please note that my education will be ongoing to better serve my family and my customers and clients. I will always let you know what I am doing and where I am at!
I am really looking forward to working with you and showing you how nice it is to heal yourself naturally!!!
*** PLEASE READ: The information on this site is for educational/informational purposes only. Working with herbs is something that you should always talk to your medical care provider about, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, have known allergies or are currently on medications. Herbs are known to be safer that most drugs on the market today (and do not come with the four pages of side effects that seem to be worse than the problem you are trying to help) but there are some that may have allergic reactions, even if they have not had any in the past. Also people react in different ways to herbal treatments, dosing amounts may need to be adjusted accordingly or there is always an alternative. Herbs are meant to work with your body to help you maintain great health and help your body learn to heal itself; they are not to be used as a substitute for emergent medical treatment. I am not a physician and I cannot diagnose or treat any condition but what I can do is offer you information, warnings and experience on herbal and other substitutes to modern pharmaceuticals that have been used successfully for generations. I can help you work natural remedies into your daily routine so that pharmaceuticals may be able to be decreased or eliminated. Herbal medicine and its claims are not regulated by the FDA so be smart about your health and do your research! ***
